safe(r) space
Safe(r) is used to acknowledge that safety is relative: not everyone feels safe under the same conditions at each moment. For this reason, safe(r) spaces can be described as fluid, dynamic, and contextual. A safe(r) space could look like an affirmative, non-threatening environment where all participants can feel comfortable expressing themselves and sharing experiences without fear of judgment, discrimination, or reprisal. Furthermore, a safe(r) space may refer to places intended to be free of bias, conflict, criticism, and feeling shamed or disempowered.
